While looking around the landscape of the evangelical church in our nation, it was painfully evident that the contemporary church has become mostly irrelevant to the ever changing cultural contexts. Meaning, that most churches are unknowingly or irresponsibly promoting discipleship as behavior modification and not what the gospel intended it to be, transformational. Soon after coming to this realization, God made it clear that he was calling us to stand in this void, to plant a church that understands that being a disciple of Jesus Christ doesn’t mean polishing up the messiness of life, instead letting the messiness of life be where we find Jesus waiting for us with open arms. So in light of this conclusion we draw our inspiration from the story of the Samaritan woman at the well in John 4:14, as it shows that there is absolutely no one that cannot receive redemption, through the power and blood of Jesus Christ, for He alone is the “living water.” The gospel is sufficient and necessary to remedy and reconcile all of the pain and brokenness of this world.
